Two friends and an idea

Meet two friends.

On the left, Rebecca, an American writer from Indiana, with a published portfolio of one novel,  several short stories (under her name) and half a dozen lined and dot-grid journals (under Spoonful of Sugar Publications). On the right, Hélène, a Québécoise, French-speaking editor and publisher, with about a dozen of textbook publications (Communication Cinq sur cinq) and a lifetime of technical translation and editing (yes, in French).

How the two got together wouldn’t pass the Bechdel test: their respective photographer husbands started it. Somehow, they met for the first time to share a Cape Cod rental for one week. Gentle readers, it was friendship at first sight. (Awww) (Well, it was ~ R) Though, to tell the truth, that friendship had built up during the preceding months through a wealth of emails between the two. As Rebecca tells it, “the day she (Hélène) answered my (Rebecca) email complimenting her (Hélène) husband’s new beard (which she [Hélène] didn’t like), and she’d (Hélène) simply written, ‘I hate you,’ I knew we’d be lifelong friends.” (True ~ R)

(You still with us?)

Late last November, while Hélène was visiting, Rebecca introduced her to Ted Lasso. They watched the series’ two seasons twice during Hélène’s 7-day stay. On the second watch-through, Rebecca would stop the viewing every 30 seconds ~ well, almost ~   to explain a pop culture reference, point out a link to a scene from some other movie, or make a Chekhov’s gun announcement.

Mix together low-content book projects, a search for niche ideas, Rebecca’s knowledge of the series, Hélène’s publishing experience and four months of joint hard work: you get Lift It Like Lasso, An unofficial Ted Lasso Ted Lasso puzzle book, published through Kindle Direct Publishing, and now available on Amazon and through the authors (rebeccaandhelene@gmail.com).
